Travel Resources

Value for money is important whilst traveling, the list below are products and services I personally use to find great travel deals.

Booking Accommodation offers over a million room worldwide in over 227 different countries so chances are there will be room available where you are going. It’s highly competitive so there are likely to be great offers available.

Airbnb is an accommodation sharing website which lets its using share there properties or spare rooms. For people looking for a place to stay, airbnb nearly always beats hotel prices. I have a $25 discount for first time users of the site.

Searching Flights

Sometimes you cannot travel by land, you need to get somewhere quickly, you need to get home or you need to get to a starting point of a journey. For that, Skyscanner is a price comparison site with more providers than anyone else, which searches millions of flights at once, almost always finding the cheapest available flight.

Momondo is an excellent price comparison site.  It’s worth checking as sometimes cheap flights show up on Momondo which do not appear on other price comparison sites.

Another option, you can check for flights is Expedia, this is another flight comparison site, it does you no harm to check more than one site when looking for the best flight!

Car Rental

Skyscanner, does exactly the same for finding cheap car hire as it does for finding a cheap flight. You can search thousands of deals at once, finding the deal that suits you.

Guide Books

Lonely Planet are by far the most useful travel guide. I have used at least one of their guidebooks on each of my trips. The guides often include information on accommodation which is not available on They also give you a basic guide of the country, culture, safety, things to do etc. The guides are available as a traditional book, or as an e-book to read on your phone / tablet or computer.

Travel Insurance

World Nomads is the best value travel insurance, they are really good value, and flexible too if you change your plans. Every trip I have taken I have been covered by World Nomads.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 32GB

On my most recent travel I have used a Samsung Galaxy S6 to take ‘spur of the moment’ photos. The photos you need to take straight away but don’t have quick access to your camera. The quality is surprisingly good.

Canon SX530 HS PowerShot Point and Shoot Digital Camera
Whilst traveling, you cannot carry a camera and lots of lenses, not for a long trip anyway. I use a Canon bridge camera, this still captures great quality pictures, has great zoom and most importantly takes up less space.
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6

Photo Enhancing

I use Adobe Photoshop 6 to improve all my photos and you should too. You can really make your photos stand out by enhancing the colors, clearing up the dark patches and improving the clarity.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 12.3 inch Tablet with Pen

A windows surface pro is very small, light and powerful. It runs on Windows 10, so you have access to a mobile computer.

Starting a Blog

Godaddy is the place to go to find your desired webpage address. Here they can tell you instantly your desired webpage address is available and if not, offer alternatives.
