Manolis Tastes is a Greek restaurant which offers traditional dishes as well as the chefs personal creations. Reasons to choose Manolis Tastes Greek restaurant for your fine dining on Lipsi Island include;
- Al Fresco dining with wonderful countryside views
- Well prepared, locally sourced food
- Friendly, welcoming staff
- Lispi Wine
- Complimentary dessert
Here, I share pictures of the dining areas and most importantly, of the food itself. For more pictures and menu information visit the Manolis Tastes official site or the Facebook page.
Manolis Tastes is located in the main village on Lipsi Island. As a matter of fact it’s around the corner from the main square of the village. On top of a small hill this location offers sweeping views over the island.
Firstly, when you arrive at Manolis Tastes you’ll have the choice of indoor or outdoor dining. Al fresco dining is the top choice so why would you choose to eat indoors? The building was constructed in the early 19th century by a rich farmer. As a result it’s one of the most iconic buildings on the island. Its architectural style combines Neoclassical and local styles. An interesting fact about the building is that when the Italians occupied Lipsi during WWII, they used it as a Police Station.
Al Fresco Dining
There are two outdoor eating areas at Manolis Tastes. Firstly, directly in front of the restaurant are dining areas which offer good countryside views. However, if you go upstairs the outdoor balcony offers better views of the surrounding countryside. How many traditional Greek churches can you see from the balcony? It’s more than you’d imagine! As a result of this stunning view, I recommend you book a good table in advance.
Starter – Goats Cheese
Firstly, for starters I highly recommend the goats cheese with muesli and honey. As a matter of fact, this was the best starter I had on all of Lipsi Island! This starter alone warrants a visit to Manolis Tastes. Other starter options include a variety of muscles, stuffed vegetables, salad as well as seasonal options.
Aubergine Gratin with Feta Cheese
The special when I visited was aubergine gratin with feta cheese. Both the aubergine as well as the feta cheese are extremely tasty on Lipsi Island.
The fresh fish and seafood dishes vary from day to day. As you would expect on an island, the seafood is very fresh.
Pork with Chips
If, for some reason you do not fancy seafood, I highly recommend the pork dish. It’s pork in a mustard sauce with a serving of freshly cooked chips. Other non seafood dishes include chicken, beef or rabbit.
A delicious complimentary dessert is served after your meal.
Manolis Tastes – Bar
After your meal, you may wish to visit the bar. Perhaps for a traditional Greek ouzo, alternatively, for a coffee.
Enjoy your meal at Manolis Tastes, Lipsi Island
