Florida, the Magic Kingdom, is the home of world-renowned beaches and the site of one of America’s most popular spring break destinations. It is no surprise that it is one of the top touristy destinations in the world. From the weather to the people, there is an endless list of reasons why you should visit Florida.
It is the one place where you can find Mickey Mouse and all of his friends while also getting a chance to see alligators in their natural habitat. Then there’s the Everglades, one of the most unique places on earth that you definitely shouldn’t miss. But why would anyone want to visit a state that is almost always sunny and warm? Isn’t that just a little too boring?
Well, here are seven reasons why Florida is a great place to visit:
1. The Neighbourhoods
Florida is a large and diverse state with many different types of neighbourhoods. From the luxury condos of Miami Beach to the historic homes of St. Augustine, there is something for everyone. Before you decide on one of the many available Miami vacations options, evaluate and determine the best places to stay based on your needs and interests. You can also find vacation rentals in other parts of Florida if you want to explore a different area.
You may want to consider a beachfront community if you want a laid-back lifestyle. Or, if you are looking for a more urban experience, then downtown Tampa or Jacksonville may be a good fit. Just as a precaution while traveling by a rental car it would be good to have a car accident lawyer at the back of your mind for that situation that hopefully doesn’t happen.
2. The Weather
When going on vacation, you last want to be met with cold temperatures and rain. In Florida, the weather is almost always perfect. The state has a tropical climate, which means it is warm all year round. During winter, Florida is the perfect place to escape the cold. The annual temperatures in the state average around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. It is also a great place to visit during summer when most other states are unbearably hot. However, there is the occasional hurricane that hits the state. But don’t let that deter you from visiting Florida, as these storms are usually over by the time they reach land.
Just be sure to check the weather forecast before packing your bags. It may be hot, but at least you don’t have to worry about shovelling snow!
3. The Beaches
Everyone loves the beach. And Florida has some of the best beaches in the world. Clearwater Beach was even named the best beach in America by TripAdvisor. The white sand and clear blue water make it a perfect place to relax and soak up some rays. But, if you are looking for a more lively beach experience, head to South Beach in Miami. This beach is full of energy and is perfect for people-watching. It is also an excellent destination for nightlife with some of the best clubs in the world.
No matter what beach experience you are looking for, Florida has a beach that will suit your needs.
4. Disney World
Disney World is the most popular tourist destination in the world and is located in Florida. The park receives over 20 million visitors annually and is a great place for adults and children. There is much to do at Disney World, including going on rides, meeting characters, watching shows, and exploring the different themed areas. The park is huge, and you could easily spend a week there and still not see everything. If you are traveling with children, then Disney World is a must-see. But, even if you don’t have kids, it is still a great place to visit.
5. The Food
Florida is home to some of the best food in the country, which is expected of such a diverse and populous state. From seafood to Cuban cuisine, you can find anything and everything your heart desires. One of the best things about the food in Florida is that it is relatively cheap. So, you can eat like a king without spending a fortune. Stone crab is a must-try when in Florida. This delicious seafood dish is only found in the waters off the coast of Florida and is typically served with melted butter. Cuban sandwiches are another popular dish in Florida. This sandwich is made with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles on Cuban bread. Kumquats are a type of citrus fruit that is native to Florida. These small fruits can be eaten whole and make a great addition to salads or as a garnish on cocktails.
6. The Nightlife
Florida is home to some of the best nightlife in the world. From world-famous clubs to local bars. Miami is the nightlife capital of Florida and is home to world-renowned clubs such as Story and Space. But, if you want a more laid-back experience, there are plenty of bars and lounges to choose from. Orlando is another great city for nightlife, with popular spots such as the Wall Street Plaza and Universal CityWalk. You will never run out of things to do when the sun goes down in Florida.
If there is one thing Florida is known for, it’s the abundance of wildlife. From alligators to manatees, many different types of animals call Florida home. You have seen some videos on the internet of alligators taking over people’s yards or hanging out on golf courses. While it is definitely true that there are a lot of alligators in Florida, they are not as aggressive as many people think. It is estimated that there are only about 2 million alligators in the state, and most live in rural areas. Manatees are another popular animal in Florida. These gentle giants can often swim in the waters off the coast or rivers and lakes. If you want to see some wildlife up close, there are many different zoos and animal sanctuaries, such as Busch Gardens and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
Florida is a great place to visit for many reasons. The weather is warm year-round, there are many different things to see and do, and the food is delicious. Have a fun trip!
