Andorra la Vella to Barcelona

Andorra to Barcelona

Andorra la Vela is the capital city of Andorra, Europe.  Andorra is not part the EU or Schengen community.  Andorra offers the following points of interest for tourists and photographers;

  • Church of Saint Stephen
  • Church of Sant Joan de Caselles
  • Casa de la Vall
  • Vallnord ski resort (in winter)
  • Duty Free Shopping

The only reason I visited Andorra was to visit another country, if you want to visit every country in the world, you must visit Andorra.  This is actually a great place for skiing in winter, so in the winter season Andorra is full of tourists visiting the Vallnord ski resort.  In the summer months, as Andorra is a tax free state, there are many French and Spanish visitors buying duty free products.  Because I visited in the off season, the hotels were very quiet and very good value.  The town is situated on the side of a mountain, and you can take free elevators up to the different levels of town, which is easier than walking up the streets.

From the tiny bus station in Andorra la Vela, there is a useful bus service called DirectBus which leaves every 2 hours to Barcelona Sants and Barcelona airport.  This service takes 3 hours with free WiFi and phone chargers.  I would recommend sitting on the left hand side of the bus with your camera ready to photograph the amazing views of the mountains throughout the journey.
