We know that Christmas is a good few months away yet, but there’s no harm in planning ahead. With that in mind, we wanted to show you ten ways you can get into the Christmas spirit with your family this upcoming festive season.
So, if you’re ready to step into Christmas or at least plan how you’re going to nearer the time, scroll down to find out more.
1. Book a Christmas Staycation
What could get you in the Christmas spirit more, than a little Christmas getaway in UK cities or countryside? Taking time out of the mundane, nine to five can be a great way to unwind, relax, spend quality time as a family and get ready for the Christmas shenanigans.
2. Letter to Santa
Writing a letter to Santa is a great way to prepare your children for Christmas. In the letters to Father Christmas, you could write about what you’ve done in the year and what you would like for Christmas while wishing him luck with his flight around the world – and the reindeer too!
3. Build a Gingerbread House
Whether it’s homemade gingerbread or store-bought, building a gingerbread house together opens the perfect opportunity to get creative with your kids and spend quality time together whilst also making a tasty Christmas treat for later.

4. Christmas Movie Marathon
Pop the popcorn, pour the hot chocolates and grab the cosy blankets – it’s time for a Christmas movie marathon of your favourite festive films. Pick your favourite Christmas film and watch them all in the countdown to Christmas.
5. Mince Pies
Fill the house with a festive scent by making your own mince pies – it’s easier to do than you think! Either find a recipe online or buy premade pastry and mincemeat and assemble the ingredients together to create your very own mince pies.
To make them extra special, why not design and create your own pie decorations to go on top of the mince pies?

6. Decorate the Christmas Tree
As a family, why not decorate the tree together? Put on some Christmas music and grab your favourite festive snacks, treats and drinks to enjoy alongside the decorating.
If you’re a sporty family, consider adding cheerful sports ribbon for Christmas decor to your tree. Use it to wrap around branches, create playful bows, or accent ornaments, bringing a fun, athletic twist to your holiday decorations. It’s a great way to showcase your love for sports while keeping the festive spirit alive.
You could even make your own tree decorations for a more personal touch.
7. Christmas Drawings
How about a Christmas craft session, where you all create drawings and paintings of Christmas-related things such as Santa, holly, a Christmas tree, presents, reindeers, a sleigh, and so much more. You could hang them up in your house to add a personal touch to your Christmas decorations, put them on your windows for passersby to look at, or frame them and wrap them up as gifts for family members.
8. Paper Snowflakes
Who can make the most unique paper snowflake? Create big ones, small ones or whatever size you like. Hang them on a thread around your house to create a snow theme, stick them on windows to make it look like it’s snowing, or hang them on your tree.
9. Go Sledging or Skiing
If it’s not snowing outside, why not visit an indoor ski slope? There, you can ski and sledge down a ‘snowy’ hill and get into the spirit of Christmas while having family fun.
10. Christmas Cards
Create your own Christmas cards with your kids. Let them go wild with different card and paper textures. Make them personal or funny. Send them to friends and family or give them to teachers.
